A ‘LIFELINE’ home emergency alarm system in the East Riding dealt with more than 9000 calls between Christmas Eve and Friday, January 2.
The service puts sensors and alarms in homes to help people live independently, including older or disabled people; people who have been discharged from hospital; or people at risk of crime.
Of the Christmas calls, 63 people had fallen, 49 needed an ambulance, 27 needed the police, and five required the fire service.
