THREE men have been summonsed to court over child sex offences at a children’s home near Market Weighton.

James Carragher, Michael Curran and Anthony McCallen have been summonsed over a total of 91 historic child sexual offences.

Carragher and Curran were former employees of the St Williams Children’s Home, and McCallen is a former chaplain at the facility. McCallen has also been summonsed over causing actual bodily harm, and all counts refer to 20 complainants and date back to between 1970 and 1993.

Caroline May, senior crown prosecutor in CPS Yorkshire and Humberside’s Complex Casework Unit, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely with Humberside Police in connection with this case. These defendants now face serious criminal offences and they have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

All three are due before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on November 21.
