ENTRIES are still open for an East Riding Christmas Bake-Off competition.

The deadline to enter the council run contest is Friday, November 14, and chefs are encouraged to come up with recipes to use up Christmas leftovers.

Finalists in the two categories – ages 11-16 and 17 and over – will have the chance to cook their recipes at The Wolds Cookery School at Southburn on Saturday, December 13, where their efforts will be judged by chef James Mackenzie from The Pipe and Glass Inn at South Dalton.

Prizes include £100 in vouchers for a meal for two at the Pipe and Glass Inn and signed copies of James Mackenzie’s cookbook.

The winning entries and finalists’ recipes will be made into recipe cards to share with residents. Entry forms at eastriding.gov.uk or from any East Riding of Yorkshire Council leisure centre, Customer Service Centre; or library.
