AN EAST Riding Village has received a £10,000 lottery grant for a special exhibition about its War Memorial Institute.
Bugthorpe War Memorial Institute has got the cash for a project called Conserving and Commemorating Bugthorpe War Memorial Institute and its Origins, and will focus on restoring the building's name stone and replacing the paper Roll of Honour with a permanent stone one.
It will enable volunteers to undertake research relating to the names and lives of the people of Bugthorpe who fought in the First World War and appear on the Roll of Honour.
For more information, call in to the Institute, Barf Lane, Bugthorpe on the morning of Remembrance Sunday when the hall will be open and serving coffee and teacakes, or contact Sue on sm_scott_uk@yahoo.co.uk.
