A LOUD Yorkshire character is set to grace the silver screen in an upcoming big-budget film.

Bridlington town crier David Hinde, who was named the loudest ever last year, has been chosen as an extra for a scene in the upcoming Dad's Army remake.

The remake of the much-loved BBC sitcom stars Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta Jones, Blake Harrison, Daniel Mays, Tom Courtenay and Michael Gambon, and is currently filming in Bridlington, where the production will recreate a St George's Day parade for the fictional town of Walmington-On-Sea next month.

David, 58, lives in nearby Bempton, and said: "I am thrilled to be part of this iconic film and will be proud to be an extra in the St Georges Day Parade as Walmington Upon Sea's Town Crier."

The parade will be held in Bridlington's Old Town High Street on Saturday, November 15, and locals hope the stunt will held attract more visitors to the Old Town Festival the following Sunday.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "Bridlington Old Town Association is expecting a bumper turnout at its always very popular ‘Old Town Dickensian Festival’ & Market on Sunday, November 23, and it has organised a fantastic programme of entertainment."

The Old Town Festival opens at 10am on November 23, and will include a march by the Beverley & District Pipe Band with the civic party, choirs including Coastal Voices and The Chantons, a 30-piece brass band, and Bridlington Cadet Drummers.
