The Beverley Ukulele Group is to join forces with former musician from The Housemartins, Stan Cullimore, to give this year’s Beverley Literature Festival a musical twist.

Around ten members of the group will join Stan to perform several songs during his appearance at Beverley Children’s Library between 12 noon and 1pm today, Saturday.

Stan will be helping youngsters, aged from eight to 12, learn song-writing skills and enjoy a Ukulele jam at today's session called ‘Travels with my Uke: writing songs, telling stories'.

Stan started life in renowned band The Housemartins before going on to become a children’s author with more than 120 books published in more than 32 countries, from picture books to teenage novellas. He also writes and appears in TV shows for children in the UK.

Tickets for ‘Travels with my Uke: writing songs, telling stories’ are £3. The Beverley Literature Festival runs until Saturday 11 October with top authors making guest appearance at venues throughout the town.
