East Yorkshire literature festival the ‘best yet’ ORGANISERS of this year’s Beverley Literature Festival say it will be the biggest and best yet, with featured writers including John Godber, Sarah Waters and Shirley Williams.

The festival lasts for 11 days starting tomorrow, with 40 events including author’s talks, creative writing workshops, children’s activities and films.

John Godber will tomorrow introduce the East Riding premiere of his latest play, Who Cares, while on Friday, the festival welcomes outspoken queen of comedy Kathy Lette, discussing her new novel, Courting Trouble.

On Saturday, James Booth will be discussing his intimate portrait of poet Philip Larkin, his colleague at Hull University for 17 years, with Larkin’s poems and letters brought to life by actor Mark McLaughlin.
