AN East Yorkshire awards ceremony celebrating the region’s food industry has grown after receiving a record number of nominations.
The Beverley Food Festival and East Yorkshire Local Food Network Awards received 140 entries for 2014, 100 more than last year’s competition. The winners were announced earlier this month at an awards dinner at Beverley Tickton Grange, which was attended by 180 guests.
The awards initiative is a collaboration between Beverley Town Council, East Riding Council and East Yorkshire Local Food Network.
Mark Farnsworth, vice-chairman of the East Yorkshire Local Food Network, said: “We were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of the awards nominations and the unprecedented number of guests at the supper is testimony to the strength of the network.”
