THE independence of a Hull City Council inquiry into the boundaries between East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull has been queried by East Yorkshire council leader Stephen Parnaby.

Cllr Parnaby also refuted city council claims that an expanded Hull would be more economically beneficial for the Humber region.

Cllr Parnaby claimed all five options being looked at by a commission were ‘Hull-centric’ in nature, with retaining the status quo not even an option for consideration.

He urged East Yorkshire people to take part in a boundary referendum and public consultation, which was providing a democratic response to the commission of inquiry.
