ONE man’s fantastic fossils are now on display at Goole Museum.

Norman Roberts found his first fossil eight years ago while walking on the beach between Barmston and Skipsea Sands. All of the specimens on display were found in the same area.

Most of his finds were laid on top of the clay layer after the tide had removed the sand. At first he took a hammer with him to extract the fossils, but he found he was damaging too many and so stopped this practice.

Debbie Hardy, Goole Museum Curator said: “During one of his visits to the museum Norman saw a display showing metal detecting finds. This gave him the idea that our visitors might be interested in seeing his fossils. When he brought them in, I knew he was right. This display has been created by Emma Franz, one of our volunteers. She has decided how to display them and the result is excellent.”
