CYCLISTS in East Yorkshire can benefit from a free bike map featuring six cycling routes from Pocklington.

The map is aimed at keen cycling enthusiasts and anyone inspired to ride a bike after the Tour de France Grant Depart in Yorkshire or British cycling successes at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The rides included on the map range from four to 27 miles, so there’s a ride for everyone, whether you’re cycling as a family group or want to try a more challenging route.

Most of the rides run along quiet roads or go off road pathsand take in some of the picturesque scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds and the surrounding villages.

The map was funded through the council’s third Local Transport Plan and was developed in partnership with Pocklington Town Council.

Councillor Chris Matthews, cabinet portfolio holder for highways, infrastructure and emergency planning at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council is making every effort to encourage more people to get active by dusting off their bikes and exploring their local area on two wheels. We hope that the map will be well used by residents and visitors to the area and that people enjoy the rides.”
