YOUNGSTERS from an East Yorkshire village took part in a marathon ‘big swim’ event.
Stamford Bridge community pool held their big splash to raise money to help maintain the baths.
About 62 primary school age children swam 51,837 metres between them, raising about £500 on the day with more sponsorship money still to come in.
Parish councillor, Rich Clarke, said: “The pool was opened 33 years ago by the old headteacher, Vic Naylor, who wanted somewhere for local schoolchildren to learn to swim after the tragic death of two kids in the local river.
“It now provides swimming lessons for more than 260 local children as well as other schools and being available for adult use but requires an awful lot of money to keep open - so, good on the kids and their parents for doing this.”
