GOLDEN Jubilee celebrations will be big in a mini way as Pocklington marks the 50th anniversary of the town receiving a major legacy.
Major Percy Stewart, of Burnby Hall, Pocklington, left his estate as the Stewart Trust to the town when he died in June 1962.
Tomorrow at 7.15pm the Yorkshire-based Mini Big Band will hold a Golden Jubilee concert in the hall’s gardens.
The band is composed of young professional musicians from Britain who have appeared at venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the Bridgewater Hall and the Jazz Cafe, Glastonbury, and will accompany singer Roman Marek.
Peter Rogers, spokesman for Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum said: “The legacy of Major Stewart and his wife Katharine is alive and well through Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum, and this event will be a fantastic way of celebrating 50 years of the Stewart Trust’s work, whilst looking forward to the next 50.”
