ECONOMIC development and regeneration projects in East Yorkshire are set to be given a multimillion-pound boost.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is proposing a match-funding scheme to take advantage of opportunities across the East Riding – including approved capital projects in Bridlington.
The council has identified £18.7 million from reserves for the proposal, which will be put before the council’s cabinet on April 22.
The plan was initially suggested by Cllr Stephen Parnaby, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, at a special full council meeting in February.
He said: “The proposal to establish a regeneration fund, which has been made possible thanks to prudent financial planning by this council, is welcome news.
“The setting up of a regeneration fund would put the council in a good position to continue to apply for funding for major projects, benefiting the local economy by supporting and creating jobs and also helping people to develop new skills through various training opportunities.”
