POLICE in East Yorkshire arrested people suspected of being drunk and disorderly, assault and theft as officers continued their crackdown on crime.

Sgt Pete Rogers, of the Pocklington and Wolds Weighton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said priorities over the next month would be a crackdown on thieves who target Christmas shoppers.

Sgt Rogers said those arrested last month included a Pocklington man arrested for common assault in the town on October 6.

On October 18, a man was arrested and was subsequently issued with a caution following a theft at his place of work.

On October 19, two men were arrested for being drunk and disorderly and on October 21 a man from Pocklington was arrested for assault.

Meanwhile, Sgt Rogers praised residents in East Yorkshire after Hallowe’en festivities were enjoyed without any serious trouble. Trouble was kept to a minimum across thanks to the Your Mischief, Their Misery campaign, which involved high-visibility patrols by police.
