WITH the police facing increasing pressures and a dwindling budget, there has never been a greater need for 'specials'.
So it's only right and proper that 17 volunteer police officers from North Yorkshire have been honoured at a long-service ceremony for their dedication and commitment after providing more than 262 years of service between them.
As Chief Constable Dave Jones says, free time is hugely valuable with today's busy lifestyles. Which means the selfless commitment made by these officers in helping to keep their communities safe should be applauded.
We salute each and every one of them.
