YORK residents are being encouraged to get crafty in the café, at a new event.

Foxwood Community Centre, in Bellhouse Way, is holding a craft café on the second Thursday each month, bringing local residents and businesses together.

Each month, one local business will showcase its skills and products.

Last week, Julie Nacey from Rose’s Button Box brought home-sewn gifts, including her new Easter range.

Staff from Acomb Explore also attended the event, with books for sale and free books for under-fives.

Sue Galloway, of Foxwood Residents’ Association, said: “There are a surprising number of local craftspeople who are designing and making innovative items and we wanted to highlight their skills.

“Some of these businesses are extremely successful and this is one way of bringing their skills to a wider audience.”

Businesses interested in joining the craft café can phone Sue on 01904 794111.

The café runs from 9.30am to 11.30am on the second Thursday of each month.
