RUGBY League in this city is in a crisis. York City Knights are homeless and despite their potential to draw respectable crowds how can this can happen if there is nowhere for the club to play?
The position entered stalemate last month when City of York Council launched a scathing attack on current chairman John Guildford, making it clear that the club will not be involved in the community stadium if he remains at the helm.
Today John Stabler, the team’s former chairman tells us enough is enough; it’s time to move on and the Knights have a right to be part of the project.
Mr Stabler goes on to say let’s forget personalities and instead concentrate on looking after the needs of supporters and club alike.
We agree. As a lifelong supporter his views deserve to be heard. York community stadium is meant to be just that. It’s time to stop squabbling and start building relationships.
