WHILE we’re on the subject of inspiring men, let’s give three cheers to Private Paul Meehan.

Private Meehan, who served in Iraq with the Royal Logistics Corps, has raised about £6,000 for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder by standing in York Railway Station with a collecting tin.

The 44-year-old, now based at Strensall with the Military Provost Guard Service, has also run two half-marathons.

Collecting at the station and listening to people who say “‘my dad has done this”’ or “‘my grandad suffers from this”’ is an emotional experience, he says.

“So I feel like I’m giving something back.”

Good for you, Paul.
