A COUPLE of years ago, Illuminating York came in for some stick. The Vic Reeves-inspired light show in Museum Gardens had nothing to do with York, critics said.
That certainly won’t be true this year. The 2014 theme is Leading Lights. And the starring role is being given to John Snow: not the Channel 4 News presenter, but the 19th century York doctor who discovered how cholera spread.
He is one of the city’s great unsung sons. So we look forward to a light show spectacular that does justice both to him and to the city where he was born.
