THIS has been quite a year for celebrating all things Yorkshire, but we’re not finished yet. Today it’s the turn of the county’s culinary delights as the York Food Festival gets under way and we’ve been especially blessed in 2014, because this is our second helping.

Now in its 18th year, all our favourites are back, from a taste trail round the city, to cookery master classes and a ten-day market in St Sampson’s Square. But the event’s official title is York Food and Drink Festival and on hand to lend their viticulture expertise will be the Three Wine Men – Oz Clarke, Olly Smith and Tim Atkin – who sound great fun.

The festival has been a great addition to York’s cultural scene and once again we wish it well. Undoubtedly it’s another fantastic way to promote this county and the wonderful comestibles it produces, especially to those who, somehow or other, are still in the dark.
