ANNABEL Lomax is only 15, but already she has had to cope with more than most people do in a lifetime. Annabel was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was aged ten and then again three years later.

As part of the operations Annabel had her pituitary gland removed, meaning that she is totally dependent on medicine and has to take an emergency pack wherever she goes.

This, she feared, would put paid to any hopes of taking her dream holiday to Walt Disney World in Florida.

But the charity When You Wish Upon a Star specialises in the seemingly impossible and, thanks to its fundraisers, Annabel will soon be winging her way to Orlando.

Understandably, she was thrilled at hearing the news and is now getting ever more excited as the big day approaches.

It’s nothing more than this extremely brave girl deserves.

Life has treated her cruelly, but with fortitude Annabel says she has learned to get on with things and say ‘‘this is it now’’.

How humbling is that? Disney World will undoubtedly give her many happy memories to bring home and we not only hope she has a fabulous time in America, we hope the mementoes she brings home will help her to continue ‘‘getting on with things’’.
