WHEN the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) promised to provide a single cycle of IVF, sighs of relief could be heard all across the York area.
Accusations of postcode lottery were finally laid to rest and the iniquitous way in which some health care providers offer services, when others do not seemed to have been resolved.
Then came the U-turn, due to a lack of funds.
This in itself is not our gripe. What really baffles us is how the CCG was able to get this so horribly wrong. To offer hope on one hand and snatch it away with the other is simply not good enough.
Today a petition has been launched to challenge the decision. Whatever the outcome, the CCG must learn to take more care in future.
