ANAPLAN is a real digital success story. Pioneered by York software engineer Michael Gould from his Yearsley barn, the company – which provides businesses with a digital platform for financial planning – went global in 2011.

Its headquarters are now in San Francisco, but it has offices in seven countries and boasts more than 20,000 users.

One of its bases – a research and development centre – was in Easingwold. That is now moving to York’s newly refurbished Bonding Warehouse, where it will almost double in size, creating up to 50 new jobs.

That is excellent news – and a real boost for York’s growing reputation as a centre for digital technology. “Despite our global presence, we strongly believe in the growing pool of technology talent where it all started for us, right here in York,” said Mr Gould.

Spot on.
