ANYONE who watched yesterday’s London Marathon cannot have failed to be impressed.

Tens of thousands of runners braved the heat for mile after mile after mile, raising millions of pounds for charity in the process.

If you watched the race on TV and decided you wanted to try to manage a marathon – then now’s your chance.

The second Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon will be held in York in October and the Jane Tomlinson appeal has provided a special offer for first-time runners.

As well as a place in the run, participants will also be given exclusive training, technique analysis, expert advice and special kit discounts.

“On top of that, they’ll even get hospitality before and after the race, refreshments and a free post-marathon massage.

Siobhan Curtis, Jane Tomlinson Appeal legacy manager, said: “The charity places we have available are ideal for people wanting to make their marathon debut as they come with all the support, help and encouragement needed to tackle the training with confidence.

Those selected will also be helping to raise money for local good causes.”

What a great idea! Last year’s marathon was a wonderful, memorable event for York and raised around £1.3 million for good causes.

This year’s promises to be just as spectacular, and this gesture will help ensure it is all the more special.

So whether you fancy yourself as the next Mo Farah, intend to don fancy dress for your favourite cause, or simply want to be able to look back and say that you did it, now’s your chance.
