IF local people are to be able to afford to buy expensive local properties, they will need decent jobs. It is good, therefore, to see business leaders setting out ambitious targets for job creation across the region.
The York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) wants to see 20,000 jobs created over the next five years, housebuilding doubled, and £3 billion of growth in the local economy.
The LEP, a partnership between businesses and the public sector which aims to help business improve and grow, is proposing a five-year campaign of targeted investment in the small and medium businesses and in the agritech and biorenewables sector which it sees as the region’s economic backbone.
It is good to see such a clear economic strategy being laid out. We now look forward to it delivering results.
