ONE of the best ways to give yourself a warm glow is to rummage through the wardrobe, select a few of those suits or dresses you always meant to wear, but never quite got round to, then drop them off at the local charity shop.
Donations are their lifeblood, but today we report an extraordinary gift that has dropped through the letter box at Age UK in Walmgate: an anonymous banker’s draft for £2,000, which, it seems, has become an annual event.
Obviously staff at Age UK are unable to thank their generous benefactor, so, through us, they want to say the money will be spent on trips to the coast for the elderly.
Which is great, many people will be able to have a day out now thanks to this generous donor. Good for him or her.
