Twelve go wild in the country
8:35am Tuesday 13th May 2008
"I'M NOT going in the water with no shark!"

Smarting at the machines
9:27am Tuesday 6th May 2008
LIFE, don't talk to me about life. One of the things that can make me feel just a little bit fed up is having to cope with baffling new technology when trying to do the simplest things.

Hope on the homes front
10:36am Thursday 1st May 2008
SOME good news at last for those desperate to get a foot on the housing ladder in York. Housing associations have received grants worth £14 million to build 365 affordable homes in the city. Work is expected to start in the autumn.

Time drivers coughed up
9:05am Tuesday 22nd April 2008
SHOULD sneezing be made a crime? I'm not thinking so much of "coughs and sneezes spread diseases" as what happens if someone does it at the wheel of a car.

10:16am Tuesday 8th April 2008

8:11am Tuesday 1st April 2008
ONE of the "might have beens" of history I have occasionally run through my head is wondering what sort of a country Yorkshire would have made.

Extreme cause for concern
10:24am Tuesday 25th March 2008
"TRUST the markets" was a key phrase of Mrs Thatcher's era, though I don't recall whether she used it herself.

Who are today’s real victims?
10:04am Tuesday 18th March 2008

Where there’s muck there’s class
9:47am Tuesday 11th March 2008
THEY say we British are obsessed with all things related to class. From social climbing and what's U or non-U through to the joys of reverse snobbery, we can't get enough of it.

Harry proves his worth in conflict
11:19am Tuesday 4th March 2008
IT'S not often I feel sorry for a member of the Royal Family, but right now I have to confess to a certain sneaking sympathy for one of the younger players in our country's favourite soap opera.

Watch out, the robots are here
10:28am Tuesday 26th February 2008
ARE machines ready to take over?

Why small talk has me stumped
8:41am Tuesday 19th February 2008
THE art of conversation is often pronounced dead, but in my case it was stillborn.

A word to the unwise
10:02am Tuesday 12th February 2008
A LITTLE over a week ago I joined a group of people, most of whom were from two York churches and about two decades younger than me, for some time out in the wilds of rural West Yorkshire.
