March 18 - Claudia is last seen walking towards her home.

March 19 (day 1) - Claudia fails to turn up for work at 6am and does not arrive at her local pub, the Nag’s Head in Heworth, in the evening.

March 20 (day 2) - Friends are worried when they still can't contact Claudia and call her father. Police are alerted and searches around Claudia’s route to work begin.

March 23 (day 5) - Claudia’s father, Peter Lawrence, makes his first emotional plea for public help in finding his daughter.

March 25 (day 7) - Det Supt Ray Galloway reveals he believes Claudia has come to harm after meeting somebody she knows.

March 26 (day 8) - The Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu, leads prayers for Claudia's return.

April 16 (day 29) - Police appeal for help in investigating two significant leads, including a man and a woman seen arguing at the roadside near the University of York.

April 17 (day 30) - Claudia’s family face an agonising wait for news after the body of a woman is found in the River Ouse. The body is later identified as that of missing grandmother, Pauline Armitage

April 24 (day 37) - Police upgrade the investigation to suspected murder, as Crimestoppers offer a £10,000 reward for information. Police also reveal a major new line of inquiry – a possible sighting of Claudia with a hooded man on Melrosegate bridge.

April 29 (day 42) - As the search enters its sixth week, Claudia's mum, Joan Lawrence, breaks her silence.

May 2 (day 45) - A new website is launched by Mr Lawrence, findclaudia.co.uk

May 5 (day 48) - Police release CCTV footage of a man acting suspiciously near Claudia’s home the morning she failed to turn up to work.

June 2 (day 76) - Det Supt Galloway refers to Claudia’s “complex” and “mysterious” private life during an appeal on BBC’s Crimewatch.

June 18 (day 92) - Police officers carry out an extensive search and remove items from the Nag’s Head pub.

August 4 (day 139) - Police teams search two properties in York belonging to a man who died shortly after Claudia disappeared.

September 19 (day 185) - A team of detectives flies out to Cyprus to speak to a number of men Claudia befriended during frequent holidays.

September 25 (day 191) - Search teams scour the University of York’s biology department for clues in connection with a possible new lead.

October 29 (day 225) - The Press reveals a jogger raised concerns with the police about a van she repeatedly saw in Melrosegate prior to Claudia’s disappearance, whose driver tried to talk to her and other women.

November 11 (day 238) - A message claiming to be from Claudia is posted on Facebook. Family and friends say they believe it is a “sick hoax”.

December 12 (day 269) - Peter Lawrence and Det Supt Galloway both read lessons at The Press’s Absent Friends carol service in St Denys’ Church, Walmgate.

February 17 (day 336) - A teenager is arrested and cautioned by police for posting a bogus message on Facebook, claiming to be from Claudia.

February 25 (day 344) - New CCTV footage showing the last recorded movements of Claudia is released by police prior to a fresh appeal on BBC’s Crimewatch.

February 26 (day 345) - Family and friends hold an awareness event in St Sampson’s Square, York, to mark the eve of Claudia's 36th birthday.

March 2 (day 349) - Police reveal they have discarded a potentially-significant lead relating to a “location” in North Yorkshire, which emerged after the February appeal on Crimewatch.

March 14 (day 361) - Well-known TV investigator Donal MacIntyre raises questions about the police inquiry into the missing chef.

March 17 (day 364) - On the eve of the first anniversary of Claudia's disappearance, family and friends make a renewed impassioned plea for those who know the truth to come forward. "We want it to end. We want her back," says best friend Suzy Cooper.

March 18 (day 365) - Police reveal a new informant has come forward, reporting that Claudia may have met a new boyfriend only days before she vanished. A colleague said they had been out until 5am two nights before she disappeared. Police also revealed for the first time that Claudia was in a casual relationship with a man from York, rather than being entirely single.

March 25 (day 372) - Police again search fields at The Outgang in Heslington following a tip-off that is later confirmed as a hoax.

April 19 (day 397)- Claudia's sister Ali Sims tells a Sunday newspaper she still dreams about Claudia at least once a week.

April 20 (day 398) - Peter Lawrence's spokesman Martin Dales urges police to search "suspicious sites" in York, and says they have had to remove the message baord on findclaudia.co.uk due to "evil people" abusing it.

May 7 (day 415) - Mr Dales calls for an independent inquiry into the police investigation, saying the public are not being kept updated, but Mr Lawrence distances himself from the comments.

May 24 (day 432) - Police search a house and nearby land near Ellerton, between Thorganby and Bubwith.

July 28 (day 497) - Police search a house in Thornton-le-Dale, near Pickering but a spokeswoman says it has not resulted in any significant development.

August 4 (day 504) - Peter Lawrence reveals the Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu has told him he can feel Claudia is still alive.

August 13 (day 513) - A Channel 4 documentary, Missing: Claudia Lawrence is broadcast. Friend Jen King criticises national tabloid coverage of Claudia's personal life.

September 20 (day 551) - The £10,000 Crimestoppers reward is removed - but it is reinstated again 12 days later.

November 2 (day 594) - The National Policing Improvement Agency calls for an overhaul of North Yorkshire Police's archive system, following a probe into the force's invesstigation.

December 8 (day 630) - Peter Lawrence backs a campaign by the Missing People charity, to improve the rights of missing people's relatives.

December 20 (day 642) - Peter Lawrence makes an emotional Christmas appeal for his daughter's captor or killer to come forward. "To not have her here is dreadful," he says.

February 27 (day 711) - A vigil for missing people is held in York Minster on the date of Claudia's 37th birthday. Kate McCann, mother of missing girl Madeleine, is among those in attendance.

March 14 (day 726) - The Crimestoppers reward is dropped once more. The charity says other cases need a chance to benefit from the cash.

March 17 (day 729) - On the eve of the second anniversary of Claudia's disappearance, mum Joan says: "I can't feel any other instinct than that she's alive."

April 5 (day 748) - Former York man Richard O'Rourke, 48, more recently of Keddington Avenue in Lincoln, is jailed for 18 months for pretending he had buried Claudia on The Outgang in Heslington. He pleaded guilty to wasting police time after texting a policewoman and a barmaid, giving a precise location.

May 10 (day 783) - Peter Lawrence makes a fresh TV appeal, on BBC's Missing programme.

June 16 (day 820) - Peter gives evidence to a Parliamentary inquiry into the rights of missing people's families.

October 25 (day 951) - Peter speaks at a seminar in York on the same issue. He warns of the potential perils of social networking websites.

November 14 (day 971) - Mum Joan says she has "lost all respect" for police leading the search and says they have been "clutching at straws".

December 6 (day 993) - Peter welcomes new Government guidance, saying every police force should direct relatives of missing people to dedicated support services.

December 13 (day 1,000) - As Claudia's family mark the 1,000th day since she was last seen alive, police reveal a "significant" and potentially fruitful new line of inquiry.
