Search for Claudia Lawrence crosses the Pennines

THE father of Claudia Lawrence has taken his campaign to find his daughter across the Pennines.

Peter Lawrence travelled by train from Malton to Stalybridge and then on to Huddersfield to raise awareness about Claudia, who has been missing for nine months.

Train operator First TransPennine Express is supporting Mr Lawrence and will be displaying posters of the missing University of York chef at their stations.

Mr Lawrence, 63, said it was very important that the campaign to find Claudia reached as many people as possible.

“We believe Claudia is out there and we need to keep her in the public’s minds, especially over Christmas when they may be chatting with friends and family and a bit of information may come out. My daughter has been missing for nine months and we need her back.”

Mr Lawrence, a solicitor from Slingsby, said any information, however small, should be given to the police or Crimestoppers.

“It is difficult to keep going and Christmas is not something we are looking forward to.

“Hopefully, someone holds that vital bit of information we need to find Claudia.”

Claudia, 35, was last seen on March 18.

Police are treating her disappearance as suspected murder.

Martin Dale, Peter Lawrence’s friend and spokesman, said: “We are very grateful for the support given by First Transpennine Express.

“It is really helpful to be able to get the ‘Claudia missing’ message to as wide an audience as possible as someone, somewhere knows something about her disappearance.”
