Think, Don't Swim campaign

The Press’s ‘Think, Don’t Swim’ campaign has been launched in a bid to raise awareness of the dangers posed by jumping or falling into York’s rivers.

It has the full support of Vicki and Abbi Horrocks, the mother and sister of a 21-year-old barman, Richard, who drowned after leaping into the Ouse from the balcony of Revolution after completing his last shift in July.

Vicki says she wants to do everything she can to prevent others going through the anguish suffered by her family since Richard died.
