THE family of Terry Walker is celebrating a small victory after the Government agreed to review its decision to stop his army pension.
Since their father died earlier this month, Stefan and Kirsty Walker, aged 17 and 12, have been living with Terry's parents, Ted and Hazel.
But the couple are pensioners and, with the Government refusing to make either his army or war pension transferable to his children, the couple do not have enough income to support their two grandchildren.
Ted said: "I've just heard from the service personnel and veterans' agency and they said they're going to look at Terry's army pension to see what can be given to me to bring up his children.
"It would only be a small part of what he had before - probably about 25 per cent - but at least it's a step forward.
"He used to get about 305 a month from it.
"Everything stopped when he died - his army pension and his war pension - and now we have nothing to bring up his children."
