German boost for Guardian Angels

10:31am Monday 12th May 2008

THE PRESS' Guardian Angels appeal has gone international - with a group of Germans teaming up to raise £2,000.

The Lionsclub Muelheim/Ruhr-Hellweg organisation raised the money, due to their connection with York Lions.

The appeal aims to raise £300,000 to fund a new high-dependency unit in York Hospital's children's ward.

The German group has been in partnership with the York Lions for 32 years and frequently join together to help raise funds for good causes.

Thomas Rox, president of the Lionsclub Muelheim, said: "For gathering money, our club regularly organises a concert once a year. "This time the entertainment was provided by young people of the Muelheim Music School. It was a fantastic performance which everyone enjoyed."
