Backing for Debt of Honour campaign continues to grow

SINCE its launch last week, Debt of Honour has already won support from two North Yorkshire MPs, City of York Council leader Andrew Waller, a string of military charities, ex-service personnel and their families, and an avalanche of readers.

Now we need you to lend your backing to our calls for the Ministry of Defence to overhaul the way it compensates physically and mentally wounded troops when they leave the armed forces.

The key aims of our campaign are to ask the MoD to:

* Stage an independent review of its widely-criticised Armed Forces Compensation Scheme in the interests of fairness, generosity, dignity and honour

* Provide more immediate support and funding for those with physical and mental injuries when they return home

* Properly recognise the effects of psychological damage and trauma – not just physical injury – on service personnel.

If you or somebody you know has suffered as a result of military service and are now involved in a struggle for compensation or adequate treatment, tell us your story by phoning Mark Stead at The Press on 01904 567131 or e-mailing mark.stead@thepress.co.uk
