Nomination: Home Farm at Beningbrough

A farm shop in contention is Home Farm at Beningbrough, near York.

Lucy Jackson, the owner of the store, said: “We have created a stunning environment in which to browse, shop and enjoy the fine, seasonal and local produce on offer. We sell our own Aberdeen Angus beef and all of our baking is done here on the farm.

“Along with the neighbouring villages, we have built up a great customer base of locals who enjoy the benefits of our loyalty card scheme, food hampers, Christmas orders, Christmas trees, deliveries, outside catering and one-to-one friendly customer service.

“This shop is a hidden gem in the countryside and we want to shout about it. Once people have found us they do return.”

Do they have weighing scales on display so that customers can make an informed choice of how much they are buying - I know of a few 'farm shops' that don't. Now then I wonder why......

i went into the farm shop a while back and thought it looked wonderful apart from a lady serving who was rather orange with make up on her face and body and it was terrible around her hands and fingers which i found rather off putting when she is touching fresh produce!
