A CAMERA shop has been nominated for the Shop Of The Year award by a local politician in recognition of its manager’s hard work – and its willingness to give him a job when he was unemployed and desperate for work.

Coun James Alexander has nominated Jessops in Piccadilly. He said the manager, Dave Hurworth, had been there for many years since leaving York College, working previously in the developing lab, then as a sales assistant, team leader and then deputy manager.

“He always works incredibly hard, and goes out of his way to help,” he said. “Though the customer comes first, he also cares about his staff.”
