IT'S enough to give you goose pimples. A 6ft goose on the loose in York. Its mission: Propaganda.
The promotional bird honked out the message to the city's shoppers that Danish furniture chain JYSK is arriving on York's outskirts at the Clifton Moor Shopping Centre on June 27.
The store, whose logo includes a goose emblem, will open in the 1,500sq ft former Northern Electric shop - a space which has remained empty for nearly five years.
The JYSK goose - pronounced YISK - was presenting the chain's "manifesto" which points out that the world happiness map created by Adrian White, of Leicester University, declares the Danes to be the happiest nation in the world. "We believe that part of the reason for Danish happiness is, in no small measure, related to Jysk's ability to satisfy our fellow Danes' desire for handel' - the Danish word for bargain."
The Clifton Moor store will be only the third opened in the United Kingdom and the first in Yorkshire. It will generate 15 jobs.
A golden egg, indeed.
