CORPORATE travel specialist Redfern Travel has won a brace of new contracts worth more than £9 million.
The York-based company has been appointed by the National Audit Office and the Highways Agency to provide travel arrangements for thousands of staff.
The contract strengthens Redfern's position as one of the top three suppliers of corporate travel services to the Government in the UK.
The company will be supplying online booking services enabling direct individual access, supported by specialist staff in their travel centres at Marsden Park, in Clifton Moor, and in Bradford.
Computer systems also provide management information, traveller tracking and an analysis of carbon emissions for each journey.
Redfern will supply the National Audit Office and the Highways Agency with online rail booking facilities, including ticket printers at their regional offices.
Ian Wotton, Redfern Travel's managing director, said: "It speaks volumes for the efficiency and cost effectiveness of our service when we are the chosen supplier to government departments such as the National Audit Office.
"Our business with the private sector is also increasing, not least because companies are recognising the substantial savings that we can achieve combined with access to a range of additional services and management information.
"The investment we have made in the latest technology enables us to achieve costs savings on travel of up to 30 per cent and a good deal more on processing and administration costs."
The latest deals confirm Redfern Travel as one of the region's fastest growing companies. Last year turnover increased from £9 million to £14 million and is forecast to exceed £22 million in 2008.
The firm has seen dramatic growth since being acquired by Alpha Omega Travel in 1999.
The investment in integrated computer systems has meant substantial savings for customers, with the cost of processing individual rail and air journeys cut from £45 using usual processes to less than £5.
