LIONS Clubs in the north of England and Scotland are to support two environmental projects in India and Tanzania, being championed by charity United Bank of Carbon (UBoC).
The Lions are joining forces with UBoC, a charity set up by Bettys & Taylors Group of Harrogate, the University of Leeds and Deloitte, to fund the planting of 15,000 tree seedlings to protect a watershed vital to 26 villages in Tamil Nadu, Southern India.
It will help the first seven villages to establish tree nurseries and launch the first phase of planting in a major reforestation programme consisting of planting 800,000 trees over the next five years.
