PROFESSIONAL organisations have a pivotal role to play in helping more North Yorkshire businesses pursue opportunities in international markets.
At an Exporting For Growth conference at Wetherby Racecourse this week, Trade Minister Lord Green addressed the conference via video link, saying professional advisers could help businesses to understand the benefits of exporting, and then help make it a reality. He said: “Across the world there are markets that are showing strong, long-term growth. We want to make sure that UK firms are not just trading abroad but thriving there.”
UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) held the event as part of a long-term initiative to increase the number of small and medium-sized businesses exporting from 20 per cent to 25 per cent, in which it hopes to double its client base to around 50,000 businesses over the next three years.
