A York textiles student has set up her own studio in Tockwith.
Angela Feather set up the Design Suite, an art, design and print studio at Marston Business Park, to provide print services to the textiles industry after finding there was nowhere to print fabrics in the area.
Angela, who's doing a degree in textiles at Cleveland College of Art and Design in Hartlepool, following a foundation course at York College.
She was given York St John University’s 14-foot print table when it shut its textile department more than a year ago.
The space at Marston is let out to start-up design businesses such as graphic designer Rich Storey, who set up Rich Storey Designs. Angela also now uses the space to hold classes and courses in crafts such as bunting, sewing and crochet.
Angela also works part-time in York haberdashery, Duttons for Buttons, and is planning a button-themed event on April 28.
Michelle Horton, manager of Duttons for Buttons, which is owned by Drusilla White, will give a talk about buttons, while other button-themed workshops take place in Angela’s studios.
