A YORK printing company has invested £30,000 in improving its energy efficiency.

Litho and digital print specialist Fulprint, a £500,000-turnover business based in Fulford, is investing in 50 kioto solar photovoltaic panels, which will provide about 50 per cent of its energy needs.

Generating its own electricity is expected to save Fulprint about £512 a year, and the panels are expected to generate £3,226 per year through the Government’s feed-in-tariff.

Fulprint made the investment with £4 million-turnover energy solutions business Solarwall, which employs about 80 staff in Clifton, York after meeting at a Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce networking event.

Grant Henderson, managing director of the renewables division of Solarwall, said: “This is a medium-sized order for us, but one which is typically becoming the norm for small businesses as energy costs continue to rise and we have done about 100 similar photovoltaic installations in the last 12 months.”
