York designer wins Internship Of The Year Award

A PRODUCT designer from York has been named as North Yorkshire’s Intern Of The Year at the Graduate Yorkshire Internship Of The Year Awards.

Ryan Collins, 23, was hired as a graduate intern by product design and innovation company LDT Design in August last year on a three-month placement.

Ryan, who is originally from Leeds and studied product design at the University of Huddersfield, was then offered a full-time position at the growing company.

Lee Taylor, managing director of LDT Design, said: “On paper Ryan had all the right skills and personal attributes to join our business and he quickly put those into practice. We didn’t quite realise the impact he would have. His talent, energy and total commitment has helped our business to grow while securing Ryan a full-time position in a competitive industry.” Iain Thew, an intern for Technology for Timber in Ripon, was also commended.
