YORKSHIRE businesses are being asked to join in The Big Conversation, the private sector’s response to the reorganisation of regional business support.
The Community Interest Company (CIC), which is being led by Barry Dodd, managing director of Thirsk-based GSM Group and a member of the board of regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, has already attracted support from powerful institutions and known names in the region.
The organisation would be run by a private-sector chief executive, with a handful of employees to run business growth initiatives.
Alongside plans just submitted for the region’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the Big Conversation is working with local authorities and Government to lobby for the pan-regional responsibility for promotion, innovation, access to finance and business intelligence.
