LAURA Tenison, the tycoon of the mother and baby market, will be guest speaker at a free Business Link Yorkshire event in The Pavilions at Harrogate Showground next month.
During the two-hour free event starting at 6.30pm on Wednesday October 6, she will tell how she became founder and managing director of JoJo Maman Bébé, which she built up into a £19 million turnover wonder without the need for venture capital or private equity.
The company, which offers fashionable maternity wear, a Breton inspired children's collection and original nursery products, gifts and toys sells via a website, a 200 -page catalogue and 28 stores.
Along the way, Laura has gathered gongs, including Welsh Entrepreneur of the Year 2003, Harpers & Queen Entrepreneur of the Year 2005, and Fast Growth Business Awards Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2007.
In 2008 she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Wales, and she received an MBE for services to business in the Queen's 2004 New Year's Honours List. She was recently awarded the 2010 Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year Award.
The presentation and question and answers session ends with networking over a light buffet.
