A FAST-GROWING North Yorkshire firm of solicitors has bought a law firm in York.
Coles Solicitors, which has its headquarters in Northallerton, has just acquired niche personal injury specialist Daniels & Company for an undisclosed sum.
The York firm, based in Micklegate, was founded by Laurence Daniels in 2005.
Its existing customers will gain the advantages of access to other legal services offered by Coles, such as will writing, conveyancing and probate and financial planning.
Meanwhile, Coles’ existing clients gain an extra, highly visible office right in the heart of the city centre.
Peter Gibson, managing director of Coles, said: “We are the only firm with a presence in both Northallerton and York, enabling us to serve the entire Vale of York from top and bottom.”
The firm has clients across North Yorkshire, Teesside and South Durham and employs 12 staff. Mr Gibson said all the support staff at Daniels & Co have been welcomed into the enlarged firm, while Laurence Daniels has moved on to pursue other interests.
Coles Solicitors was established in Northallerton in 1965 and acquired by Peter Gibson in 2006. A year later, it merged with Middlesbrough firm Lauristons.
Early last year it relocated to purpose-built offices at Trinity House, Thurston Road, Northallerton.
