AVACTA, the York-based manufacturer of technology for the biophysics market, has said it is confident it will achieve its sales targets this year after appointing a European distributor.
In a statement to the stock exchange, the company said that Dutch company Isogen Life Science (ISL) has already placed an initial order for Avacta’s Optim 1000, equipment which analyses proteins for the biopharmaceutical industry, to be placed within a European biopharmaceutical research organisation. This takes the number of Optim unit sales to date to five.
Chief executive of Avacta Group, Alastair Smith, said: “ISL has shown resounding past success in deploying instrumentation and reagents within Avacta's target markets of Northern and Southern Europe and we are confident that they have the customer relationships to accelerate sales of Optim this year.
“The Avacta sales team will now focus on the UK market and on broadening our sales efforts into other key markets such as the United States through direct activity and through further partners.”
