SENIOR managers from a major Chinese industrial group, who are on a continuing professional development course at the University of York, have visited one of the city’s major employers.
The 14 delegates from Jilin Forest Industry Group visited Portakabin, in Huntington, as part of a bespoke marketing programme prepared by the university’s corporate training unit.
The delegates were a mixture of general managers, vice-presidents and marketing managers from the various Jilin subsidiaries.
They met managers and toured facilities at the giant Portakabin site as part of the five-day continuing professional development workshop.
The workshop was organised after University of York alumnus Xin Zhang, who now works for Jilin, approached Amanda Selvaratnam, head of the university’s corporate training unit for help.
She said: “The university is delighted to host the high-profile delegation from Jilin Forest Industry Group. This is another example of the international business relevance of York’s courses.”
Portakabin marketing director David Shaw said: “Portakabin is very pleased to assist the University of York in promoting the respective capabilities of the two organisations to an international audience.”
Jilin Forest Industry Group’s activities range from forest resource management and eco-tourism to mineral water, medicines and financial services.
