BENENDEN Healthcare Society, the York-based mutual not-for-profit healthcare organisation, is offering jobseekers the chance to gain training and work experience with a new apprenticeship scheme.
The scheme, organised in with City of York Council’s York Training Centre, will run for one year initially and give a successful candidate the opportunity to obtain a level 2 business administration qualification, as well as the chance to work in the society’s member services department.
Anne Sykes, training manager at the centre, said: “Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience. The communication I have had with staff at Benenden Healthcare has been second to none, and I’m looking forward to working in partnership over the next year.”
Jon Shanks, human resources and development manager at Benenden Healthcare, based in Holgate Park Drive, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a valuable work and training experience for local jobseekers.
“Although initially only for one successful candidate, we hope to continue working with the York Training Centre, as we have staff development at the heart of everything we do.”
The society is a finalist in the Large Business Of The Year category in The Press Business Awards 2010, for which winners will be announced at York Racecourse on Thursday, November 18.
