CUSTOMER First UK, a Clifton Moor-based national accreditation body, has welcomed the first utilities company in the country to acquire its customer service standard “Putting the Customer First”.

Energy solutions business Fulcrum’s customer advocate manager Ted Stone said his company’s achievement “rigorously refocused” the notion that “there are always real people, dependant on our services, at the end of every assignment”.

Fulcrum provides new gas, water and electricity connections and has also been an independent gas transporter for three years.

The business has more than 300 staff at its offices in South Yorkshire and Edinburgh.

Customer First UK chief executive, Frea O’Brien, said: “Fulcrum’s recognition of this quality standard, and its success in achieving accreditation, demonstrates that ‘Putting The Customer First’ is as important to large organisations as it is to small and medium-sized enterprises.

“There is no such thing as an organisation which does not need to deliver the highest standards of customer service and we look forward to more utilities businesses following suit.”

Customer First UK, has helped businesses in more than 40 sectors throughout the UK to achieve the standard.
